MD/MPH Dual Degree

Admissions

To be considered for the UCI dual degree MD/MPH program, students must first be enrolled in the UCI MD program.

During their third year of medical school, interested students must complete the full application process for the MPH program by submitting both the UCI Graduate Application and the School of Public Health Application Service (SOPHAS) application. Final acceptance to the program is granted by the Program in Public Health. UCI MD students who enroll in the program will take a leave of absence from the School of Medicine after their third year to complete coursework for the MPH program.

The deadline for receipt of all application materials for the MPH program is December 15

Who Can Apply

In general, applicants must first apply and be accepted to the medical degree by the School of Medicine. During the third year of the medical program, the student would apply for admission to the MPH degree. 

Funding Your MPH Degree

The MPH program at UC Irvine is a professional degree that prepares students to pursue a career or The MPH program at UC Irvine is a professional degree that prepares students to pursue a career or further their education in public health. Accordingly, professional degree fees are charged in addition to tuition and educational fees to support the program’s educational activities. A third of the fees are returned to students in the form of financial aid. MD/MPH students may also be eligible for support through the UCI School of Medicine.
