Degree Pathways

A doctoral student must complete the following requirements to qualify for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Environmental Health Sciences:

• A major program of study (courses and research) that includes a comprehensive written preliminary examination and an oral qualifying (advancement to candidacy) examination.
• A written dissertation based on the student’s original research, and a successful defense of the dissertation during an oral examination given by the student’s doctoral committee.
• Full‑time residence for at least six (6) regular academic quarters.
