Scholarships

Creating pathways to training and providing financial support to our students is a core value of UCI Public Health. We are happy to offer the following scholarships, specifically for our students. The 2024 Scholarship Cycle is open now until Friday, April 26th at 8 p.m.

The scholarship is intended to support graduate students who are conducting research (or working with faculty) that focuses on community engagement and health equity. Late or incomplete nomination packets will not be reviewed.  

Award Information

The funding package includes:

  • $5,000 for one summer (6 awards to PhD students; 10 awards to MPH/MS students)

If students have applied for and accepted Financial Aid loans or Work-Study awards and subsequently receive any fellowships, the additional support may affect their eligibility for need-based financial aid. Students should contact the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to determine if their eligibility will be affected.

Students should review the terms of any funding that they have accepted for the 2024-2025 academic year to ensure that they are eligible to receive additional fellowship funding.

Eligibility

  • Nominees must be a PhD, MPH, or MS student in good standing and enrolled full-time in the Program in Public Health.
  • Nominees must be U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, International student or AB540 student.

Application Process

Students must submit the application electronically to the department, along with the following:

  • Students should submit a two-page proposal/request, outlining their research and the need for additional funding. Do not exceed 1,000 words.
  • Student curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Unofficial Transcripts including Winter Quarter 2024 grades
  • Letter of Recommendation by Faculty Mentor

Students can self-nominate or be nominated by their faculty mentor or PI.

The scholarship is intended for current doctoral students pursuing their PhD degree in Epidemiology or Public Health (any concentration) or master’s degree students pursuing their MPH degree (any emphasis).
