UCI Environmental and Occupational Health – Postdoctoral

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at UC Irvine is seeking a full-time post-doctoral researcher to join Dr. Masashi Kitazawa’s lab, focusing on the role of microglia in Alzheimer’s disease through NIH-funded studies using animal and cell culture models. The research involves investigating spleen tyrosine kinase (SYK) in microglia activation and AD progression, utilizing techniques such as iPSCs, cytokine assays, immunocytochemistry, and rodent behavior tests, under Dr. Kitazawa’s supervision.

Population Health and Disease Prevention

Postdoctoral Position

The Department of Population Health and Disease Prevention invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in HIV behavioral and social network epidemiology. The researcher will be asked to contribute to the analyses of data collected as part of the ANCHOR (Analysis of network composition, health outcomes, and resilience) project that examines HIV risks and other health outcomes in displaced queer populations in Ukraine. The researcher will work closely with Dr. Tetyana Vasylyeva (PI, UC Irvine) and Dr. Britt Skaathun (co-I, UC San Diego), and the rest of the study team.

Associate/ Project Scientist, Behavioral Medicine Research Lab

The Department of Population Health and Disease Prevention invites applications for an Associate Project Scientist who will serve as the Manager of the Biobehavioral Shared Resource (BBSR) of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center (https://cancer.uci.edu/bbsr). The BBSR supports cancer researchers with expertise and services in planning, conducting, and dissemination of translational biobehavioral research. This includes providing consultation on behavioral and/or quality-of-life patient-reported outcome measurements, research design, data collection, interpretation of self-report data, manuscript preparation, and counseling interventions within clinical trials. The BBSR has participates in translational research in psychoneuroimmunology, examination of behavioral issues that enhance recruitment and compliance within cancer center clinical trials, and development of behavioral and quality-of-life outcomes associated with clinical trials.

The Associate Project Scientist will also be a core member of the Behavioral Medicine Research Lab (https://bmed.publichealth.uci.edu). This might involve contribution to efforts in the recruitment and enrollment of research participants; administration of research assessments and biological specimen collection; delivery of behavioral interventions to research participants; and assistance in grant writing and research dissemination.

We are seeking to hire a highly motivated, dedicated individual who has excellent management, organization, communication, intervention, and research skills, and understands cancer survivorship.
