The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Climate and Health Scholars Program was established in 2023 to help build climate and health research capacity at the NIH. This prestigious program brings together national experts to drive forward-thinking solutions that address the complex connections between climate change and health. The NIH has selected Jun Wu, PhD, a professor of environmental & occupational health at the UC Irvine Joe C. Wen School of Population & Public Health, as one of the 2024-25 Climate and Health Scholars.

Dr. Wu being selected for this honor highlights her exceptional contributions to environmental health research and her commitment to advancing the understanding of how climate dynamics impact population health. As part of the NIH Climate and Health Scholars Program, Dr. Wu will collaborate with scientists and policymakers to tackle pressing public health issues, specifically focusing on climate-driven health challenges affecting vulnerable communities. In addition, she will publicly present as part of the NIH Seminar Series during the coming year on an environmental health topic.

Congratulations to Dr. Wu on this remarkable achievement and for representing our commitment to health equity, innovation, and environmental justice at a national level.
