As the COVID-19 pandemic wrecked havoc on our healthcare systems over the past two years, numerous UCI Public Health faculty stepped up to rebuild, reframe, and transform our community’s health.
In recognition of their evidence-based research strategies to enhance best practices for community engagement and foster improvements in the aftermath of COVID-19, the UCI Office of Inclusive Excellence has awarded pilot funding to Sora Park Tanjasiri, DrPH, a professor of epidemiology and biostatistics and Alana LeBrón, PhD, an assistant professor of health, society, and behavior.
Their winning projects, which will receive the funding include:
- “Evaluating an Anti-Racism Curriculum to Inform the Development of the Center for Environmental Health Disparities Research (CEHDR)” – Led by Alana Lebrón, PhD. Additional team members on her project include Jun Wu, Abigail Reyes, Mextli Lopez, and Candice Taylor Lucas.
- “Assessing Cancer Health Disparities through a Community Outreach and Engagement Lab (COE Lab)” – Led by Sora Park Tanjasiri, DrPH. Additional team members on her project include Brittany Morey, Cevadne Lee and Vy Le.
Congratulations to the project leaders and their teams for their inclusive excellence.
