Congratulations to Dean Bernadette Boden-Albala for her recent appointment to the University of California Global Health Institute (UCGHI) Board of Directors.
UCGHI is a UC-wide initiative that stimulates, nurtures, and promotes global health research, education, and collaboration to advance the UC system’s global health agenda. Board members like Boden-Albala oversee the business and affairs of the organization, provide guidance for overall policy and direction, and facilitate communication between UCGHI and the UC system’s 10 campuses. As part of this group, Boden-Albala will also play a critical role in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at the institution, across the UC system, and in the local community.
“We need to frame our conversations so that they are equity based and there is no one power at the table,” she notes. “[We need to] really listen to each other about our needs.”
– Dean Boden-Albala
As a researcher and academic leader, Boden-Albala’s efforts have focused on addressing health disparities and reducing the burden of disease among the world’s most vulnerable populations. Much of her work has become a blueprint for community-based stroke and heart disease prevention, as well as equity-driven COVID-19 response.
Please join us in celebrating Dean Boden-Albala’s well-deserved appointment.
