The successful candidate’s research program should address how environmental exposures and social stressors interact to create and promote health disparities, by addressing exposures, environmental health impacts, and/or interventions relevant to Black communities. Qualified applicants should have experience teaching, mentoring, and developing educational opportunities designed to support the success of diverse graduate and undergraduate students. Qualifications also include an outstanding extramurally funded research program in environmental health disparities. We are especially interested in candidates with experience working with a multidisciplinary team in a community-based participatory approach. This position requires a doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, and/or MD), a strong record of research accomplishments and publications, and internationally recognized research contributions to the field.
The successful candidate’s research program should address community engaged research in the area of environmental health disparities in Black/African American communities. Research programs could include, for example, exposure and health studies (e.g., quantitative and/or ethnographic), environmental health policies or regulatory action and health inequities, community action to disrupt environmental racism and promote health equity, and/or intervention studies focused on the wellbeing of Black/African American communities. They will have expertise in disseminating findings and translating research results to environmental/public health equity action plans that engage local residents and other stakeholders. Candidates will also be able to teach courses at the nexus of environmental health disparities, community-based participatory research, and the health of Black/African American communities.
