Student Affairs Mission Statement

The mission of the Public Health Student Affairs Office is to facilitate the academic development of Public Health students, and to assist them in achieving their academic, personal, and professional goals by providing high quality academic advising and guidance.

It is our objective to achieve this in a courteous, accurate, and efficient manner.

We expect our students to take full responsibility for their decisions and actions.

Public Health Student Affairs Virtual Office Hours

Monday - Thursday: 9:00am-4:00pm

Friday: 9:00am - 3:00pm

Drop-In Hours:

Spring '20 During this time, we will be using phone and email to schedule appointments as well as schedule drop-ins. Please send an email to PHUCIappts@gmail.com or call (949) 824-2358. For general advising, please email PHPeers@gmail.com or cbfern@hs.uci.edu.

The drop-ins will continue during the hours below but they will be done virtually, during the times below. The hours listed are for the Spring Quarter.

​Please note, walk-in sessions are 15 minutes in length. Please also be aware that we may shut down walk-in hours if we have a long wait time that would exceed our open hours. Walk-in hours are with Peer Advisors and students should arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing in order to be seen.

If you need to drop off paperwork after business hours, kindly slip them under the door for pick up the next business day. While we are remote, all paper forms will be accepted electronically.

  • Undergraduate Course Waiver Petition — To be completed for Public Health course substitution only.
    — Must submit to Student Affairs Office with:
    • Course syllabus
    • Course description
    — Please be advised:
    • Students may petition with the Public Health Student Affairs office for Public Health courses only.
    • Students must bring the completed petition, in person to the Student Affairs Office with the requested paperwork.
    • If you have taken a course from another department, please petition directly with that department.
  • Study Abroad Course Waiver Petition — Please be advised:
    • Students may petition with the Public Health Student Affairs office for Public Health courses only.
    • Students must bring the completed petition, in person to the Student Affairs Office with the requested paperwork.
    • If you have taken a course from another department, please petition directly with that department.
  • — To be completed for DegreeWorks updates:
    • Adding or changing "Topic Areas"
    • Increasing units
    • Adding or deleting minors
    • Changing the catalogue year
    • Other general inquiries
  • PH 199 Petition to Substitute Research for UD Topic Area — To be completed to Substitute for Upper Division Course in Degree Requirements. Must submit to Student Affairs Office with:
    • A detailed report of the research project
    • A letter of recommendation from the faculty/supervisor, describing your role/participation in the research project.
    • The research must be at least 4 units.
  • — PH-198/199 Course Substitution for Public Health Minors. Must submit to Student Affairs Office with:
    • A detailed report of the research project
    • A letter of recommendation from the faculty/supervisor, describing your role/participation in the research project.
    • The research must be at least 4 units.
