UCI Public Health PhD student, Amanda R. Brown Tortorici accepted into American Society of Nephrology (ASN) Kidney TREKS program. The week-long research based course will be held at the Mount Desert Island Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine this summer. She will be provided a travel stipend, tuition, and room and board as well as an additional $800 stipend to attend their annual conference, Kidney Week, in Chicago.
The American Society of Nephrology Kidney TREKS program (Tutored Research and Education for Kidney Scholars) provides medical students interested in nephrology opportunities for research training and mentoring with established renal faculty and nephrologists. One component of the Kidney TREKS program is Origins of Renal Physiology:MS1, a one-week intensive laboratory summer short course held at the MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine.
