UCI Public Health Student, Michelle Tan selected to receive the Chancellor’s Award of Distinction. This award will honor her as one of the most outstanding undergraduates of the Class of 2016. The Chancellor’s Award of Distinction acknowledges the University of California, Irvine's most outstanding graduating seniors. Awarded by the UC Irvine Alumni Association, these students represent exceptional academic achievement, and a commitment to cutting-edge research, leadership and service to UCI. Selected by a committee of alumni, recipients can be identified by the blue and gold shoulder cord worn with their commencement regalia.
Global Health LIVE is a new and innovative graduate seminar for graduate students that was co-designed by Professors Terry Schmidt (from UC Irvine) and Mellissa Withers (USC). The course was offered for the first time in Fall 2015. The course extended the theory of global health to the practice of global health. The relationship of health, foreign policy, and global health leadership were the cutting edge of the scope of the course. Students from five universities attended the live session simultaneously for 10 weeks via live video using the google hangouts platform.
