The UCI Medical Humanities Initiative solicits entries for the best undergraduate and graduate student essays in exploring the intersection of medicine and the arts and/or humanities on the themes of health, healing and well-being. Winners receive $500, a certificate of achievement, and the opportunity to present their research in the UCI Medical Humanities Work-in-Progress Series.

UCI undergraduate Public Health student, Cindy E. Ventura has been awarded the CDC Public Health Leadership & Learning Undergraduate Student Success (PLLUSS) internship. The 8-week summer program provides scholars with mentored public health research and community health activities, mentorship, and professional development, especially in the area of promotion of health equity and the elimination of health disparities research.
